What It Is

The Sungazer Lite is a circuit-bent Canon PowerShot A580 — a compact digital camera modified with 3 on/off/on toggle switches that introduce unpredictable signal interference into the image processing chain. The result is glitched, corrupted, and painterly frames you can't get from any filter or plugin.

Battery and memory card not included. The camera accepts SD/SDHC cards and standard AA batteries.

Compatibility & Recording Tips

  • Works with any SD or SDHC card (up to the A580's native limit).
  • Toggle switches can be flipped before or during capture — experiment in stills and video modes for different corruption patterns.
  • Shoot in good light for the most visible glitch artifacts; low-light shots may produce noise-dominant results.
  • Connect via USB to transfer files as you would with any Canon PowerShot.

Effect Character

Depending on switch combinations, you can expect pixel displacement, color channel separation, scan-line banding, and smeared exposure trails. Each unit's bend behavior is unique to its individual modification — no two Sungazers produce identical results.
